TAG Art Gallery NYC

I am a founding artist-member of Textile Art Gallery NYC, a new artist-run cooperative gallery located in Chelsea, New York.

Why the Textile Art Gallery,
Why Now

The Textile Art Gallery NYC was created to present textile-based work as contemporary fine art, work that engages with abstraction, materiality, and conceptual inquiry at a high level, and that belongs in direct conversation with painting and sculpture.

Textile practices are increasingly visible in the art world, yet they are still often framed through the lenses of craft, process, or tradition. While these histories are important, they do not fully account for the breadth of contemporary textile work being made today.

This gallery was established to address this gap.

As an artist-run space, the gallery provides a platform for:

  • large-scale, ambitious textile work
  • abstraction rooted in colour, structure, and spatial tension
  • experimentation with material and form
  • dialogue across artists working throughout North America

At this moment, the Textile Art Gallery NYC represents a collective effort to expand how textile-based work is seen, understood, and discussed.

About My Involvement

As a founding member of Textile Art Gallery NYC, I am part of a collective shaping the gallery’s direction, programming, and exhibitions.

This initiative reflects an ongoing commitment in my practice to:

  • expand the language of textile abstraction
  • situate cloth within contemporary art discourse
  • engage audiences beyond traditional boundaries of the medium
Surface Tension, Inaugural Group Show, Invitation

Inaugural Exhibition: Surface Tension

Surface Tension brings together work by founding members of Textile Art Gallery NYC, introducing a range of approaches to contemporary textile abstraction.

The exhibition explores:

  • balance and instability
  • structure and disruption
  • surface as both material and metaphor

The work is unified not by technique, but by a shared commitment to pushing textiles beyond conventional boundaries.
